IT Support Technician – Glasgow

A vacancy has arisen for an IT Support Technician to join our IT team.

Job Description:

The IT Support Technician role will support Thesis’ IT infrastructure including desktop PCs, laptops, servers, printers, local area networks, wide area networks, internet connections, computerised telephone systems and associated applications.

Some of the main responsibilities will include:

  • Responding to service desk requests, diagnosing incidents, implementing solutions or escalating as necessary.
  • Performing preventative maintenance, including checking and house-keeping of workstations, printers and peripherals.
  • Accessing software updates, installing new hardware and ensuring the operational efficiency of all aspects of the firm’s IT systems.
  • Support of Microsoft Office 365 and Teams telephony systems. Banking and Pulse/Symphony administration.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience of working in an IT support role at a similar level, as well as relevant experience of working within an IT service desk environment. They will have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams and mobile phones (in particular iPhones) with good understanding and experience of Wifi, Local and Wide area networks.

They will also have strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and be able to present ideas and solutions in a straightforward and customer friendly way. The ability to effectively prioritise while working under pressure, alongside keen attention to detail, is also essential and a good humoured, friendly, helpful disposition is a must. Previous experience of working within financial services, or a professional services environment, would be desirable.

The candidate is also likely to have HND / BTEC / Degree standard education (maths, sciences or IT preferred) and relevant Microsoft certifications including MCSA or equivalence.

It will be a requirement for the successful candidate to complete satisfactory reference checks (including, but not limited to, a DBS check, financial checks and employment references).
